This autumn, join us for a haunting exploration of Latin American literary horror through two masterpieces: Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s Mexican Gothic and Mariana Enriquez’s Our Share of Night. Both novels reimagine the Gothic genre, threading supernatural dread through the historical, political, and personal landscapes of Mexico and Argentina. Moreno-Garcia’s lush, unsettling tale of a decaying mansion and cursed lineage meets Enriquez’s sprawling, occult-infused examination of dictatorship, grief, and power.

Through guided discussion, we’ll consider how these works use horror to confront the legacies of violence, the burdens of history, and the monsters we inherit—both real and imagined. This group is perfect for readers eager to dig into the symbolic, the unsettling, and the emotionally resonant layers of contemporary horror fiction.

What to read in advance of the first meeting: Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
