The Center for Fiction’s public events bring hundreds of storytellers to the stage each year. Iconoclasts and emerging voices alike come together in conversation about craft, the writing life, and the power of literature to engage with the most pressing issues of our time. These dynamic programs launch careers, bring stories to life with dramatic readings, platform diverse voices and urgent discussions, and celebrate storytelling across art forms.

Frequently Asked Questions & Refund Policy

If I can’t make it to an event in person, will a recording be available?
Most of our events are livestreamed and all registrants receive a link to the livestream. If you know ahead of time that you won’t be able to attend in person, we encourage you to purchase a livestream ticket. You can use the link to watch the recording at any time, even if you can’t tune in at the time of the event. At the end of each season, we publish all event recordings on our YouTube channel and at centerforfiction.org/videos.
I purchased a ticket and can no longer make it to the event. What is your refund policy?
Please note that ticket purchases are final. We do not offer refunds for tickets in the event that a guest is unable to attend. Note that all registrants will receive a link to livestream the event, which can then be used to view a recording of the event. If an event is canceled or rescheduled, we will reach out to everyone who has purchased a ticket with next steps.
I want to give my ticket to someone else. What should I do?
The person using the ticket should give the name of the ticket buyer at the door.
I registered with a book purchase. When will I receive my book?
For events that include a book purchase, in-person attendees will receive their book upon arrival at the event. For livestream tickets, books purchased for events will begin shipping out the day after the event, unless otherwise noted. Please allow 1-3 weeks after the event for your book(s) to arrive. If you have any questions about a shipment, please email our Bookstore team at [email protected].
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! At checkout, please enter your shipping address and choose International Shipping. Books shipped internationally may take 2-5 weeks after the event to arrive. If you have any questions about international shipping, please email our Bookstore team at [email protected].
When should I arrive for the event?
Doors open 30 minutes before the event’s start time. We encourage you to arrive early to choose your seat and settle in with a drink from the Café & Bar!
I’ve registered for a livestream, how do I view the event?
For most events, the livestream link will be in the confirmation email you receive automatically after you purchase your ticket. In some cases, we will send the link to registrants closer to the event date. At the time of the event, click the link to attend!
I don’t see the email, what do I do?
Please check your spam folder. (And remember, any typos in your email address will prevent you from receiving the link!) If you are still unable to find the email, please contact us at [email protected] and we will send you the link upon confirmation of your purchase.
I have another question or concern.
We’d love to hear from you, please email us at [email protected]. Our office is open from 10:30am to 6:30pm ET, Monday through Friday. We will do our best to respond promptly during those hours.
